A New Group - Issues in European Politics

This group will start from the assumption that post Brexit, key issues in European politics are central to any understanding of what is happening in the world. There are a range of issues to be explored –including the rise in populism and political drift to the right; (im)migration; climate chaos; racism and anti–semitism; Ukraine, Russia and European security; the EU; etc.

We plan to have monthly meetings starting in October 2023. Meetings will take place at the Warwick Arms Pub on Thursdays, from 12.00 am to 1.30 pm.

Proposed topics are as follows (those of subsequent meetings will depend on the interests of the group).

Thursday October 12 : The EU without the UK
Thursday November 9: The rise of right wing populism (Spain, France, Italy, Germany…)
Thursday December 7th: Ukraine: the Achilles heel of Europe?
