A successful u3a day at the Forum!

A huge Thank You to everyone who worked incredibly hard to make our u3a Open Day at the Forum so successful!

Group leaders and members from 20 groups created fascinating displays and talked to all those interested and answer the many questions. We had a large membership area showing the upcoming Assembly Room talks and the Socials at Chantry Place. The Natural History group had a great display of photos while our cycling stand had leaflets and maps to encourage interest. The Art group bought a laptop to have a constant flow of images and this stand also displayed the jazz group. There were a collection of classic literature and although the creative writing convenor could not come he sent a variety of samples of the writing from the group to display. The jewellery group too bought samples from their members and then the family history group had photos and a huge family tree to show what could be found with a bit of help. The many walking groups were represented with a timetable to show that there is a group for almost any length and interest while the languages convenors outdid themselves with such a variety and number. And we may even have found a new Convenor and Italian speaker for the group.

We had a highlight during the afternoon from the recorder group of two performances

There was a constant flow of people for the 5 hours we were there and we have signed up 30 new members and had enquiries from 4 members who would like to start new groups.
